Eternal Destiny – Our Choice

Eternal Destiny

by Richard W. Darnell, JD

Our spirit (or soul) has an eternal life span. (Matthew 10:28, Ezekiel 18:4, 20) The question is with whom do we choose to live. To live in the comfort and ease of God’s presence is one choice we may make. (Revelation 20-21) His (God's) presence is eternally established by our personal relationship with our Lord, Savior, and King, Christ Jesus (Messiah Yeshua) during our life on earth, John 15:4; 14:23.

Matthew 13:34-35, “Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet: ‘I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.’ (see, Psalm 78:2)

John 8:31-32, “To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, ‘If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.'”

John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (Tree of Life Version, TLV) And, John 14:23, Jesus said, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make our dwelling with him.” (TLV). We become the dwelling place for God the Father and God the Son by genuine faith. Our genuine faith is a gift from our Father, God, Romans 12:3-4; Ephesians 2:8 (TLV).

Experience being set free, both spiritually and physically, includes receiving an indescribable peace and security from Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus). Discovering the source of the awesome power which sets us free is our life’s journey here on earth. John 14:27-29; Revelation 22:20(b), “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.”

The Bible's Theme IS the Messiah/Christ

After the human disobedience in the garden of Eden, God said to the Serpent, "I will put enmity between you and the woman – between your seed and her seed. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel." (Genesis 3:15, TLV) This is the first prophecy of a future event in which the Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus) is coming as our redeemer, savior, Lord, and King. Stated as current fact for future fulfillment.

The New Testament bears witness to this truth: 1 Peter 1:18-21, "You know that you were redeemed from the futile way of life handed down from your ancestors – not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with precious blood like that of a lamb without defect or spot, the blood of Messiah. He was chosen before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through Him you are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your trust and hope are in God." (TLV) Peter was one of the disciples with Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus) from the beginning of His ministry until He was placed in the tomb after crucifixion and witnessed His ascension back into heaven. (see, John 18 and 19). There were over 500 witnesses who saw Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus) after He arose from the dead, 1 Corinthians 15:6 (1-11) and Acts 1:3.
